HP StoreOnce VSA 1.1 Software Release Notes (TC458-96015, December 2013)

Description
HP StoreOnce VSA is the HP StoreOnce Backup system packaged as a VMware virtual appliance. It
can be deployed and run on a VMware vSphere hypervisor environment. The StoreOnce VSA software
version is 3.7.1. The product version is 1.1.1.
Product models
The v1.1.1 (3.7.1) software release is applicable to the following product models only.
TC458A/AAE -- HP StoreOnce VSA 10TB 3 Year Software
Platforms
StoreOnce VSA is supported on hypervisors with:
Intel x86 and x64 based hardware.
AMD Opteron Generation 3 or earlier hardware.
Newer hardware than AMD Opteron Generation 3 (with EVC mode enabled on ESXi host cluster)

Storage type
StoreOnce VSA is supported on VMFS3, VMFS5 and NFS datastores. StoreOnce VSA is not supported
on Raw Device Mapping (RDM). Please refer the HP StoreOnce VSA Deployment and Configuration
Guide for more details.
Network address configuration for StoreOnce
HP recommends that customers do not use network addresses in the range 10.154.0.0/16 with the
StoreOnce VSA, that is addresses in the range 10.154.0.0 to 10.154.255.255.
These address ranges are reserved for internal use by the StoreOnce VSA and should therefore not
be used.

Enhancements
StoreOnce VSA is now qualified on Backup Exec 2012. However, it is recommended that the
total number of jobs from Backup Exec should not exceed 16 in number. For example, a maximum
of 12 backup jobs and 4 copy jobs can be run at a given time.
The HPresetpassword account provides a method for the local Admin user to recover the default
password. This account, with the username, HPresetpassword, is only available from the StoreOnce
CLI and it allows this user to log in via the Virtual Machine console and change:
The local Admin account back to its factory default password (admin)
The password of the HPresetpassword account.
This account is not accessible via a remote ssh session.
IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended that the password for the HPresetpassword account
is changed immediately after installation of the new software. The new password should be strong
and memorable. See “Related documentation (page 5) for instructions on managing the
HPresetpassword account.
