4 Installing the HP OpenStorage (OST) Plug-in
This section provides information on how to install the HP OST plug-in. Topics included in this

Downloading the OpenStorage (OST) OST plug-in
Download the HP OST plug-in package tar file from www.software.hp.com kiosk onto Solaris
NetBackup media servers. (Consult your HP sales contact for user ID and password information.)
Installing the OpenStorage (OST) OST plug-in with NetBackup (NBU)
You must have Symantec NetBackup software installed before installing the HP OST plug-in. See
the NetBackup installation guide for its installation instructions.
Shut down NetBackup services before installing the OST plug-in. Shutdown of the NetBackup
services may leave processes running in the background that interfere with the OST plug-in
installation.
1. Shutdown all NetBackup services.
2. Navigate to the location of the downloaded package.
3. Execute the pkgadd -d <package name> command.
4. Start all NetBackup services.
During the installation, files are copied in the following locations:
HP OST Plug-in has two library files namely libstspihpq20.so and
libstspihpq20MT.so
Located in: /usr/openv/lib/ost-plugins/
Supporting Libraries: /usr/openv/hp/ost20/lib/
Configuration files: usr/openv/hp/ost20/config/
Log files: usr/openv/hp/ost20/logs/
NOTE: HP recommends rebooting the NetBackup media server after installing the OST plug-in.
Uninstalling the OpenStorage (OST) OST plug-in
If it is necessary to uninstall the OST plug-in, complete the following steps:
1. Make sure that NetBackup services are down.
2. Remove the package by executing the pkgrm libstspihpq20 command.
