HP OpenStorage (OST) Plug-in for Symantec NetBackup on Solaris (EJ002-90998, December 2012)

CatalystStores security modes
There are two security modes that can be set to CatalystStore:
No authentication–Allows all users to have access to the CatalystStore.
User authentication–Allows a select group of users to have access to the CatalystStore. See
Figure 1 (page 9).

Client-side de-duplication configuration
HP OpenStorage (OST v2.0) has two WRITEMODE options for transferring data to HP B6200
StoreOnce Backup System:
LOWBANDWIDTH (client-side de-duplication ON)
HIGHBANDWIDTH (client-side de-duplication OFF)
See configuration files in “Installing the OpenStorage (OST) OST plug-in with NetBackup (NBU)”
(page 11) for more details on WRITEMODE.
You can configure this parameter in the configuration files as following:
WRITEMODE:<server>:<CatalystStore name>:<mode>
If WRITEMODE is not configured, the configured CatalystStore mode will be used. If WRITEMODE
is configured and it conflicts with the CatalystStore mode, an error will be logged and the operation
will be aborted. The following are configuration examples:
WRITEMODE:10.11.220.8:store_1_5:LOWBANDWIDTH
WRITEMODE:10.11.220.8:Store1:HIGHBANDWIDTH
Please note that the READMODE (read data from the StoreOnce Backup System) is always
HIGHBANDWIDTH and; hence, does not have any configuration parameter.
From the HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup System , each CatalystStore (LSU) can be configured in
one of these modes: LOWBANDWIDTH, HIGHBANDWIDTH, or both. See Figure 2 (page 10).
