HP StoreOnce 4500 Backup Start Here poster

Connecting to the Capacity Kit (optional)
Up to three expansion enclosures of 24TB or 48TB capacity may be
connected to the HP StoreOnce 4500 Backup. The first expansion
enclosure is connected to the RAID controller card in the head server
unit. Subsequent expansion enclosures are daisy-chained.
1. Install the rail kits and all expansion enclosures either immediately
below or above the HP StoreOnce Backup, as described in
Section 3.
2. Connect the square HD SAS connector on the supplied 2m cable
to the single high-density SAS port on the RAID controller on the
rear of the HP StoreOnce Backup system.
3. Connect the mini-SAS connector on the other end of the cable
to the P1 connector on the upper module on the rear of the first
expansion enclosure.
4. If installing more than one Capacity Kit, use the supplied 0.5m
SAS cables to daisy chain up to three expansion enclosures in
total. The connection is from P2 on the upper module of the first
enclosure to P1 on the upper module of the next enclosure, as
illustrated below.
5. Use the supplied power cords to connect each expansion
enclosure to the mains power supply.

NOTE: Licensing extra capacity
The licenses for the Capacity Upgrade Kits must be applied
and the storage expanded, using StoreOnce CLI commands,
before the extra capacity is available for use.
When connecting multiple capacity expansion enclosures
to an HP StoreOnce Backup system, add all licenses before
expanding the capacity of the HP StoreOnce Backup system.
The storage expansion process will fail if there are any
attached expansion kits for which a license has not been
applied. See the printed guide supplied with the Capacity
Expansion kit for further details.

1 Power On button
1. If you have installed any expansion enclosures power them all on
first. You may need to hold down the power on button (on the rear
of each unit) for a few seconds.
2. Power on the HP StoreOnce Backup system (the power button is on
the front of the unit).
3. As long as DHCP is enabled on the network, the appliance should
now be accessible across the network. If it is not enabled, you
must use StoreOnce CLI commands to configure the appliance on
the network.
Power off
To power off your HP StoreOnce Backup system always use the
StoreOnce CLI commands, as described in the HP StoreOnce CLI
Reference Guide on the HP StoreOnce Backup CD-ROM. Expansion
enclosures must be powered down manually.
CAUTION: If you need to power down the expansion
enclosure(s), make sure the HP StoreOnce Backup system is
powered down first. This ensures that the system does not
erroneously mark the drives as failed when the HP StoreOnce
Backup system is powered up again.
To power off an expansion enclosure, press the Power On button and
wait for the system power LED to go from green to amber.
NOTE: When installing/replacing a hot-plug device, it is not
necessary to power down the units.
7 Using the StoreOnce 4500
Backup
User accounts and passwords
Two types of user account are available, and default users are set up
automatically when the system is installed:
• Administrator: Allows authorized users to create and edit
management and StoreOnce functions. They can also create and
manage users. Default User name = Admin; password = admin.
• Operator: Provides limited access for monitoring and viewing.
Default User name = Operator; password = operator.
Names and passwords are case sensitive.
Changing the passwords for the default user accounts after
installation is strongly recommended. For more information about
other user accounts (hpresetpassord and iLO) and password best
practices, see the HP StoreOnce Backup system User Guide.
Accessing the StoreOnce 4500 Backup
There are two ways of accessing the StoreOnce Management
Console:
• Using the StoreOnce Command Line Interface, CLI
• Using the StoreOnce Graphical User Interface, GUI
StoreOnce CLI Interface
Some tasks, such as network and storage configuration and licensing,
can be carried out only from the StoreOnce CLI.
StoreOnce CLI commands must be run from an SSH terminal
session and require an SSH client application (freely available from
the internet) running on the management console. Log on to the
StoreOnce CLI as follows:
ssh <username>@ <ip_address>
See the HP StoreOnce CLI Reference Guide for more information.
StoreOnce GUI
Connect to the StoreOnce GUI from any machine connected to
the network using the default host name printed on the top of the
appliance.
https: <ip_address> or <Fully_Qualified_Domain_Name>
Enter your user name and password.
NOTE: If you will be configuring Virtual Tape Library devices as
backup targets, install all the required Tape drivers on backup
servers and ensure the backup server is running software that
supports HP Tape libraries. Tape drivers can be found on the
StoreOnce Backup CD-ROM. Drivers are not needed for NAS
Share and Catalyst Store backup targets.
