HP StoreOnce 4500/4700 (24 and 48 TB) and 4500 (48TB) Expansion
Modules
The expansion module is the same for both the HP StoreOnce Expansion Modules. The only
difference is the capacity of the hard disk. The StoreOnce 4500/4700 (24TB) Expansion Module
contains twelve 2TB hard disks. The HP StoreOnce 4500 (48 TB) Expansion Module contains
twelve 4TB hard disks.
• HP StoreOnce 4700 Series Backup system: The first 24TB disk enclosure must be installed at
the same time as the head server unit and connected to the correct RAID card as described
in the HP StoreOnce 4700, 4500 and 2700 Installation and Configuration guide. Up to seven
24TB capacity expansion enclosures, HP StoreOnce 4500/4700 24TB Capacity Kit (BB881A),
may be installed at the same time or added later. Expansion enclosures are daisy chained to
the two RAID cards. The user is advised to make a record of which enclosure (serial number)
is connected to which RAID card for future reference.
NOTE: The packaging and identification labels for the first storage enclosure do not carry
the part number BB881A.
• HP StoreOnce 4500 Series Backup system: Up to three expansion enclosures may be connected
and they are daisy chained. Two expansion options are available: the HP StoreOnce
4500/4700 24TB Capacity Kit (BB881A) and the HP StoreOnce 4500 48TB Capacity Kit
(BB909A).
NOTE: The disks in the head server unit are different to those in the expansion shelf. Be sure to
order the correct replacement disk for the location where the disk has failed.
