HP StoreVirtual 4630 Storage
Quick Start Guide
Abstract
IMPORTANT: Read this document first.
The HP 4630 storage system is available as a fully
factory-integrated system or as a field installation. For the
factory-integrated system, begin with
“Setting up the storage system (page 1). For the field
installation, an HP Service Engineer will integrate the storage
system onsite and you can disregard the rest of this guide.

Setting up the storage system
1. Connect a network cable from the OA on the blade
enclosure to your management network.
2. Connect the system power cord to the site power
source. The blade enclosure powers on
automatically.
3. Connect at least one cable from each Flex-10
module to the management network.
4. From the Insight Display, assign a network address
or allow DHCP address assignment to the blade
enclosure.
5. Log in to the OA from a web browser using the
administrator username and password located on
the asset tag of the OA.
6. Using the OA virtual power buttons, power down
the SAS switches and Flex-10 modules. Then
reapply power in the following sequence:
a. Disk enclosure
Press the power button on the back of each
disk enclosure. Wait 3 minutes.
b. SAS Switches
Use the OA to power on the SAS switches.
Wait 1 minute.
c. Flex-10 Modules
From the OA, power on the Flex-10 modules.
d. Server blades
Power on the server blades 1 minute after
powering on the SAS switches.
The remaining steps can be completed remotely.
7. Use the OA to congure the local enclosure.
8. Open the Virtual Connect Manager from the OA
and log in using the administrator username and
password located on the asset tag of the active
Flex-10 module.
9. Congure the Virtual Connect domain and dene
a network for the iSCSI trafc.

Configuring the network interface
Using the Onboard Administrator:
For each 4630 node, connect to the iLO Integrated
Management Console and complete the following
instructions.
Prerequisites
Before configuring the network settings on individual
storage systems, have the following information
available:
Host names
IP addresses, subnet mask and gateway
1. To log in to the configuration interface, type start,
and then press Enter. Press Enter again to log in.
Use the Tab key to select the fields and menu
options in the configuration interface.
2. Press Tab to select Network TCP/IP settings and
press Enter.
3. Press Tab to select the network interface that you
want to configure (eth0 or port1) and press Enter.
4. To change the host name, press Backspace in the
Hostname box to delete the default name and then
enter the appropriate name.
5. Select Use the following IP address and then enter
details for the IP address, subnet mask, and
gateway. Select OK when finished.
NOTE: Manually assign IP addresses to the
storage systems. Using DHCP to obtain an IP
address is not recommended unless you are
using reserved addresses.
6. (Optional) Ping the IP address of the storage system
from another host on the network to verify that it is
operating correctly.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each storage system.
Setting up the SAN
Installing the Centralized Management Console
(CMC)
Install the CMC on the computer that you will use to
manage the SAN. You need administrative privileges
to install the CMC.
Using the installation wizard (Windows)
1. Insert the HP StoreVirtual Management Software
DVD in the DVD drive. The installer launches
automatically.
NOTE: If the installer does not launch
automatically, navigate to the DVD drive to
locate the executable. Double-click the

2. Click Centralized Management Console (CMC).
3. Click Install CMC.
NOTE: If you select the Complete option,
the SNMP and HP LeftHand Networks MIBs
will also be installed.
