When you upgrade the CMC, the CMC closes and the CMC installer wizard runs. The new version
of the CMC opens when the installation is finished.
Before upgrading the CMC, verify the following:
• You are using Version 9.0 or later of the CMC.
• You are using the CMC that you want to upgrade.
To upgrade the CMC in an online environment:
1. When you see an available CMC upgrade, click Install next to the CMC icon.
The CMC closes, then installs the upgrade.
2. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
If you want to install the SNMP MIBs, select the Complete installation.
To upgrade the CMC using an offline directory:
The option to use local media is only available if the CMC can’t connect to the FTP server.
1. Start the CMC.
2. Select Configuration Summary and click the Upgrades tab.
3. Click Use Local Media.
4. Choose the network directory where you stored the files, and proceed with the upgrades.
Install upgrades and patch sets using the latest CMC on an earlier version of SAN/iQ software
Use the latest CMC to manage an earlier version SAN Solution. For example, use the latest Version
9.5.x CMC to manage a Version 9.0.x SAN Solution.
1. Select Configuration Summary in the Navigation pane of the CMC.
2. Select the Upgrades tab.
3. Click Start Download.
4. Click Continue to upgrade the CMC.
5. To remain at the earlier SAN/iQ version while using a later version CMC, click the link Click
here to stay at current software version.
6. Select the option Only notify me of patches available for my current version of software and
click OK.
7. Log in to the management group targeted for the upgrade and click Continue next to the
Upgrades Available (Patches).
Install upgrades and patch sets using earlier versions of the CMC
Use these instructions to continue using the earlier version CMC to manage an earlier version SAN
Solution. For example, use a Version 9.0.x CMC to manage a Version 9.0.x SAN Solution.
1. Select Help→Preferences from the menu bar.
2. Expand Preferences, and then select Upgrades from the tree.
3. Select the Advanced option under Upgrade Selection Mode, and then click OK.
4. Select the Upgrades tab in the tab window, and then click Start Download.
5. After the download is finished, click Continue to upgrade the CMC.
6. Select the Version 9.0 CMC in the CMC Upgrade window, and click Install.
7. When the CMC is upgraded and has restarted, select Help→Preferences.
8. Expand Preferences, and then select Upgrades from the tree.
9. Select the Normal option under Upgrade Selection Mode, and then click OK.
10. To remain at SAN/iQ Version 9.0 and use a Version 9.0 CMC, click the link Click here to
stay at current software version.
