HP SureStore AutoBackup Administrator's Guide - Not Orderable

Do the files that I am currently using get
backed up?
Any file that is locked for exclusive use by an application will not get backed up. In
practice, there are very few files that fall into this category. For example, office
productivity suites (e.g. MS Office) do not lock their files for exclusive access. The
main type of files that are locked are email and database files (the software includes
an MS Outlook agent - see below). Of course, if the application is not using the file at
time of backup, it will get backed up.
Will my email client get backed up?
The backup software has been written to cope with MS Outlook email. The stored
email file gets safely backed up. It is possible that email received through other
applications other than MS Outlook will not be backed up depend on how it operates.
Programs that store the data on the email server will not have the emails backed up
unless the email server is protected. Programs that store the data locally will have the
emails backed up as long as the file in which they are saved, is not locked for
exclusive access at the time the computer is backed up.
