HP Surestore Bridge FC 2/1 LV and FC 4/1 HV Installation and Operations Guide

O
OFC An acronym for Open-Ended Fibre Control. When a cable link is dropped, the
laser drops, to eliminate the potential for eye damage.
offline Taking the bridge offline indicates that all SCSI and FC adapters in the bridge
are offline. Taking a SCSI adapter offline means ending inputs/outputs and
suspending all transactions going from the bridge to the specified SCSI
devices. The SCSI adapter is no longer active or available for access. Taking a
FC adapter offline means ending inputs/outputs and suspending all
transactions going from the 4x50 to the specified FC device.
online For the bridge, online indicates that at least one adapter in the bridge is active
and available for access. For a SCSI adapter, online indicates the SCSI
adapter is active and available for access and input/output processing.
originator A Fibre Channel term that refers to the initiating device.
P
Point-to-Point One of three existing FC topologies, in which two ports are directly connected
by a link with no fabric, loop, or switching elements present. The FC 2/1 LV
and FC 4/1 HV use FC-AL to support Point-to-Point configurations.
port The hardware entity within a node that performs data communications over
the Fibre Channel link.
port name A field value under the FC Status menu; the FC port identifier; a 64-bit value
the factory assigns to each FC adapter.
POST See Power On Self Test.
Power On Self Test
(POST)
A group of tests run when the 4x50 is powered on.
PPP An acronym for Point-to-Point Protocol. A transmission path over which data is
transmitted between two Fibre Channel devices.
processor Contains the arithmetic and logic, control, and internal memory units that
control the bridge.
protocol A data transmission convention encompassing timing, control formatting, and
data representation.
