HP Surestore Bridge FC 2/1 LV and FC 4/1 HV Installation and Operations Guide

64 Interfaces and Connections Chapter 3
Ethernet Connection
10/100 BaseT Ethernet connectivity provides enhanced management and
configuration capabilities. The RJ-45 connector on the bridge can be directly
connected to a standard 10/100 BaseT Ethernet network.
Configuration is required to set the IP network address to allow for use of the
configuration capabilities of this port. The IP network address can be manually
or dynamically assigned using DHCP. Refer to Ethernet on page 92 for details
on setting the IP network address.
Note The bridge contains a unique Ethernet MAC address that is
assigned during the manufacturing process.
Ethernet capabilities include Telnet and a Web interface for configuration and
management. FTP and TFTP are also supported for firmware upgrades.
Serial Port Connection
The DB-9 connector on the back panel of the bridge provides a serial port
compliant with the EIA 562 standard, which is also compatible with RS-232
signaling levels. The serial connection can be used to configure the bridge,
monitor diagnostic status, or update the firmware stored in the bridge’s FLASH
memory. A cable is provided with the bridge to connect to the DB-9 serial port.
The serial port operates with the following settings:
