HP Surestore Bridge FC 2/1 LV and FC 4/1 HV Installation and Operations Guide

66 Installing Cables Chapter 3
Installing Cables
The bridge can be used in either basic or expanded system configurations.
This section provides the steps to install cables in both configurations.
Fibre Bridge Connection, Basic Configuration Example
(Tape Libraries and MO Jukeboxes)
Caution Be sure all devices in the configuration have been turned off and
disconnected from the power source before making SCSI
connections. Failure to disconnect all power could result in
damage to the devices.
Note The HVD SCSI robotics controller port of the A5617A and
A5597A tape library may be connected to a free SCSI port on
the FC 4/1 HV. For use with the FC 2/1 LV, employ the HVD to
LVD converter card A6324A.
1. Properly shut down all peripheral SCSI devices that will be connected to
the bridge.
2. Connect a SCSI cable from each bus (0 and 1 on the FC 2/1 LV, or 0
through 3 on the FC 4/1 HV) on the bridge to a tape drive in the library
or to an MO jukebox. You may connect the library’s robotics controller to
a spare bus on the bridge or daisy chain it with a tape drive as long as the
tape library robotics controller and the tape drive are of the same SCSI
bus type (HVD to HVD, LVD to LVD).
Use the LVD converter (HP A6324A) to connect the tape library’s robotics
controller to an LVD SCSI bus.
You may daisy chain additional tape drives together, but this may result in
performance loss. Multiple bridges may be used within a single tape
library.
For a two-bus MO jukebox, connect a SCSI cable from the second bus on
the bridge to the second bus on the jukebox.
