Installation
Switches
Chapter 22-6
If the default address cannot be used in your network configuration, you
will need to make a serial (RS-232) connection to the switch using
terminal emulation software. To do this, you will need a standard serial
cable with a female 9-pin D-Sub connector for the switch connection and
an appropriate connector for the host/terminal being used.
The cabling pinout is described in the table below.
Managing the Switch Using the Telnet Options:
1. Connect the host system and the switch using the serial cable.
2. Start the terminal emulation software on the host system.
3. Power-on the switch.
The switch will automatically connect, and you will be logged in as
admin. If you are prompted for a login and password:
1. Enter
[admin] and [password] respectively.
2. Enter the command
[ipAddrSet]. You will be prompted to enter the
Ethernet and FC IP addresses, subnet mask, and gateway address.
3. If the current value displayed is correct, select
[ENTER]. The switch
should now be accessible using Telnet.
