Telnet Session
The CLI can o nly be used thro ugh a Telnet client sessio n in an o ut-of-band management
enviro nment, using the Ethernet po rt in the director or switch. Although the primary use of
the CLI is in host-based sc ripting environments, the CLI co mmands can also be entered
directly at a co mmand line. Any hardware platform that suppo rts the Telnet client software
can be used.
Ethernet Connection Loss
If the Ethernet cable is disconnected from the director or switch during a Telnet session,
one of three scenarios is possible:
• Replace the Ethernet c able befo re the c lient connec tion times out, and the Telnet
session will c ontinue.
• Wait 10 minutes for the c lient c o nnectio n times out; then replace the Ethernet c able and
restart the co nnec tion.
• If the client connectio n has already timed o ut, open an HP Embedded Web Server (HP
EWS) or HP Surestore Director FC-64 Product Manager window. Toggle the enabled
state of the Command Line Interface (CLI), thereby clearing the client connection.
Restart the client connection.
Once the client connection is reestablished, verify your co nfiguration’s completeness and
accuracy.
