This chapter explains how to troubleshoot the HP hardware providers and provides a list of VDS and
VSS error messages and explanations. This chapter includes information that applies to both arrays,
P6000 only, and P9000 only:

VDS/VSS HP hardware providers will not install
The HP hardware providers installation works only on the Windows versions mentioned in this guide
and in the release notes supplied with the HP hardware providers. The installer will not install the
software on other versions of Windows.
For P6000 only:
The VSS hardware provider may not install if the system Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordin-
ator (MSDTC) service fails to start. When this occurs, the following message is displayed:
The registration of the hardware provider did not complete successfully.
For additional information on minimum system requirement please refer
to the administration guide.
Make sure that the MSDTC service is running. If it is stopped, the VDS/VSS installation will fail.
The VDS hardware provider installation might fail with the following error message:

Workaround: Re install VDS hardware provider.
VDS disk array management not working
Use a process of elimination to determine whether the problem is with one of the following components:
Application managing the array
VDS
HP hardware providers
HP disk array
