2 Installation and configuration
Using TapeAssure with standalone tape drives requires installation of two components the
TapeAssure service and Command View TL.
The TapeAssure service pulls support tickets and sends them to the Command View TL database.
Command View TL, which holds the database, performs the analysis and displays the results.
Downloading, installing, and starting the TapeAssure service
The ticket pulling functionality is provided by the TapeAssure service.
To download, install, and start the TapeAssure service:
1. Download the TapeAssure service from www.hp.com/go/tapeassure.
a. Navigate to the correct download for the required operating system.
b. Download the install package.
2. Execute the install package to install the software.
3. Re-boot the server if requested to do so.
4. Configure the service by modifying the config\sta_service.cfg file in the installation
directory:
a. Identify the server that will be the Command View TL management station.
b. Set up specific parameters, such as the rate at which tickets will be pulled.
Most changes to the configuration will be detected automatically within five minutes. The service
can always be re-started to detect all configurations.
