Description The release includes updated firmware for HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 SCSI tape drives. HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools (HP L&TT) must be used to download firmware to the tape drive. Drive firmware version: B63D Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes B5AD IMPORTANT: This upgrade is a full replacement for drive firmware version B62D that was briefly available on the HP web site. If you have already installed firmware version B62D, this upgrade provides additional enhancements.

New functionality • To improve drive reliability, an additional calibration may be done when loading a tape to account for variations in media. Load times will increase a) to test whether calibration is required and b) to perform calibration, if invoked.

Determining current version You can check your current firmware revision from HP Library & Tape Tools (L&TT). Launch L&TT, select the product from the lower left hand frame and click on the identity button at the top (if necessary).
