Chapter 2 HP Value UPS Manager Installation, Start & Uninstall
1. System Minimum Requirements
¾ 128 MB physical memory (256MB is recommended).
¾ 160 MB hard disk space.
¾ More than 256 colors and 800 * 600 resolutions or above display is recommended.
¾ The user is required to have administrator rights.
¾ For Linux operating system, the user must log in the system with “root” account to carry out the
installation.
¾ TCP/IP protocol must be installed to support network management.
¾ An available communication port (RS-232 Serial Port or USB port) is needed while connecting to
the device with a special communication cable.
Platforms supported by HP Value UPS Manager include the following:
Windows
Server 2003 Ent – SP2
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows Server 2008
Linux
RedHat 5 – U1
SLES 10 – SP1
2. HP Value UPS Manager Installation Steps
Note: The installation must be started with “root” account in Linux! After installation you must restart the
system before running the HP Value UPS Manager!
Enter the right directory of the CD according to your platform type.
For GUI mode environment:
9 Insert the HP Value UPS Manager CD, and find out the operating system of your computer (such as
Windows) in the CD directory, Refer to Diagram 2-2-1 below:
