10. How to send event messages by mobile phone

9 Precondition

The precondition of sending messages by mobile phone is that the computers with HP Value UPS

Manager must have at least one communication port that is used to connect to a GSM Modem or a

mobile phone.

9 Events supported

For a UPS, only if the following four events are encountered, can the event messages be sent by

SMS:

¾ UPS Battery Low

¾ UPS Fail

¾ UPS Output Overload

¾ AC Fail

¾ AC Restore

9 Steps

SMS Setting: Open the “SMS setting” menu item from the “Tools” menu to pop up the “SMS

Setting” screen. Refer to the following diagram 4-10-1:

Below is the remark of SMS Setting:

1. Sender: SMS is sent through a GSM modem or a mobile phone that is connected to your

computer. The user should select the COM port that is being used by a GSM Modem or mobile phone,

and then set baud Rate of this COM port.

2. Receiver: The mobile phone numbers that can receive the SMS. It can be one or more. If the
