Table 7-4 Booting a Client
Message(s) or
Behavior
Possible Cause Fix
Using "boot
lan.080009-xxxxxx"
s700 won't boot from
known good IUX
server.
Not enough
temporary IP
addresses for
booting.
rbootd is not
running on the
server.
server lan is
something other
than ethernet, e.g.,
FDDI,X.25,token-r
ing, and s700 is
older generation
715,735,755.
Older s700's will
not be able to boot
from ROM because
rbootd doesn't
function over
non-ethernet lan.
(See rbootd(1M)).
Allocate more
addresses in
/etc/opt/ignite/inst
l_boottab
or wait for an address
to become available.
Start rbootd by hand:
/usr/sbin/rbootd.
Do one of the
following:
Start install from
bootable media
(CD-ROM,tape)
and enable
networking from
there.
If s700 contains
9.x or 10.x
bootable disk, boot
from that disk and
run bootsys -w
s700 hostname on
the IUX server.
