Managing Superdome Complexes: A Guide for HP-UX System Administrators
Configuring and Managing Superdome Partitions
Overview of Superdome Partition Concepts
Chapter 4 121
Each complex profile maintains the following information for the
complex.
• Stable Complex Configuration Data
This portion of the complex profile stores complex-wide information,
including the following details:
— The name of the complex.
— Which cells are assigned to which partitions, and which cells are
unassigned (those on the free cell list, which are available to be
assigned to any partition).
— The model number, model string, product numbers, and the serial
number for the complex.
The Superdome complex’s Guardian Service Processor (GSP) stores
the Stable Complex Configuration Data.
• Partition Configuration Data
This portion of the complex profile stores partition-specific
information.
The Partition Configuration Data includes the following details:
— The partition’s name, number, and IP address.
— The PRI, HAA, and ALT boot paths and boot actions.
— The failure-usage policy for each cell in the partition.
— The use-on-next-boot setting for each cell. This determines
whether the cell is booted to join (rendezvous) the rest of the cells.
— The core cell preferences: the preferred core cell and alternate core
cell settings.
Each partition has its own Partition Configuration Data, a copy of
which is stored on each cell in the partition.
The Guardian Service Processor (GSP) manages all complex profile data
and keeps all copies coherent.
