HP-UX 11i Features for Superdome Servers
The HP-UX 11i release includes several new commands and utilities for
managing and configuring HP Superdome partitions and system
hardware. Also, the new rad command and the ioscan command provide
Superdome-specific output as described in the following sections.
These key HP-UX 11i Superdome features are discussed below. For
details on all HP-UX 11i features see the HP-UX 11i Release Notes.
The following new HP-UX commands support managing and
configuring Superdome partitions: parstatus, parcreate,
parmodify, and parremove.
Two additional HP-UX commands support powering on/off
Superdome hardware components and turning on/off their service
LEDs: frupower, and fruled.
The new Partition Manager (parmgr) graphical utility also supports
the same Superdome tasks that the above commands support.
The ioscan command provides Superdome-specific HP-UX hardware
path output when you run it on Superdome servers.
HP-UX hardware paths on Superdome servers differ from hardware
paths on other HP servers.
Also, the HP-UX hardware paths for PCI I/O slots within a
Superdome I/O chassis do not always directly correlate to the PCI slot
numbers.
See the followingsection (“HP-UX Hardware Paths on HP Superdome
Systems” on page 27) for details on these HP-UX hardware path
considerations.
The new rad command is supported on several HP systems, including
Superdome, for displaying I/O card information and performing card
addition and replacement tasks.
You can use the rad -q command to display a summary of a
partition’s available PCI I/O slots, cards, and other details. This
output on Superdome servers differs from output on other servers.
See the following section (“rad Command Output on Superdome
Servers” on page 30) for details on using rad on Superdome servers
and for recommended restrictions.
