3. Click the Receive for free >> option provided against MUX (PCI 8/64 port adapters), Driver
Software heading.
4. Fill out the free product registration form and click next.
5. Search for Download Software option, and click the depot for HP-UX 11i v1 or HP-UX 11i v2
operating system version to download the driver, utilities, and manpage for the AD279A
adapter.
6. In the Documents column next to the Download Software column, click Installation

driver, utilities, and manpage for the AD279A adapter.
Step 3. Run the swinstall program using the following command at the command prompt:
$ /usr/sbin/swinstall
The Software Selection window is displayed.
Step 4. Change the Source Host Name, if necessary, and then enter the mount point of the drive in the
Source Depot Path field. Select OK to return to the Software Selection window.
The Software Selection window contains a list of available software to install.
Step 5. Based on the operating system that is installed, select the PCI MUX software.
For HP-UX 11i v1 operating system, select the following software:
PCIMUX-00 -> B.11.11.01 PCI MUX; Supptd HW=AD278A/AD279A
For HP-UX 11i v2 operating system, select the following software:
PCIMUX-00 -> B.11.23.01 PCI MUX; Supptd HW=AD278A/AD279A
Select Mark for Install from the Actions menu. This selects the highlighted software.
Step 6. From the Actions menu, select the Install... menu and then select Install. The product installation
begins and the Install Analysis window is displayed.
Step 7. Select OK in the Install Analysis window when the Status field displays Ready.
Step 8. Select YES in the Confirmation window to start software installation. The swinstall command
loads the fileset, runs the control script for the filesets, and builds the kernel.
Step 9. When the processing is completed, the Status field displays a Ready message. Select Done. The
Note window is displayed.
Step 10. Select OK in the Note window to reboot. The user interface disappears and the system reboots.
After the system restarts, log on to the system as superuser and view the
/var/adm/sw/swagent.log and /var/adm/sw/swinstall.log files for error or warning messages.
Step 11. Run the following command at the command prompt to verify whether all installed PCI adapters
have a software state of CLAIMED:
$ ioscan -knfC tty
NOTE HP recommends you to install the patch before installing the driver software for AD279A card.
