Monitoring and Troubleshooting
Monitoring and Troubleshooting the HP-UX Host
108
NOTE This is a partial view of the itutil command output pertaining to this step in the
troubleshooting procedure. For more information on the itutil command, see “Using
Itutil” on page 40.
Step 3. Ensure that each adapter port is connected and has an associated network address.
Run itutil.
Description: itutil displays details about fabric adapters on the host, which include the
connection status and network address. The connection status is displayed in the output line item
“Spigot Online.” The associated network address is displayed in the output line item “Primary
Network Address.”
NOTE The example below shows two ports, or spigots. Spigot 1 is a properly connected port
because the “Spigot Online” is set to “YES” and the “Primary Network Address’ is
displayed. Spigot 2 is not properly connected because the “Spigot Online” is set to
“NO” and the “Primary Network Address’ is not displayed.
Syntax example: itutil
Output example:
Number of Spigots(Ports) on IA : 2
Spigot specific Information
Spigot identifer : 1
Spigot online : YES
Num Network Addresses : 1
Primary Network Address : fe80::ca07:2001
Spigot identifer : 2
Spigot online : NO
Num Network Addresses : <Unassigned>

Step 4. View the topology of the host to ensure that connectivity is configured as expected.
Run itutil -T.
Description: itutil -T displays the topology of fabric adapters on the host. Ensure that the
“Configuration”, “Primary Remote Network Address” and “Node Description” output line items all
contain the appropriate information for your configuration type. For more information on HP
Fabric Clustering System configuration types, see “Features, Parameters and Supported
Configurations for HP-MPI and TCP/UDP/IP Applications” on page 20.
