defined at the MC/ServiceGuard level as a package with a
“package/application” IP address. For more details about defining
packages, see your MC/ServiceGuard documentation.
NOTE For EMS remote recovery with MC/ServiceGuard, you must use
MC/ServiceGuard version A.10.10 or later for HP-UX 10.20,
MC/ServiceGuard version A.11.01 or later for HP-UX 11.0, and
MC/ServiceGuard version A.11.01 or later for HP-UX 11.11
MC/service guard version A.11.15 or later for HP-UX 11i v2.
NOTE For details about configuring, starting, and stopping MC/ServiceGuard
package control scripts, see your MC/ServiceGuard documentation.
The MC/ServiceGuardpackage control script starts eachdefined package
and performs the following tasks:
Activates the volume groups needed by the package (if any).
Mounts the file systems from the activated volume groups to the
local system.
Adds the IP addresses to the LAN interfaces, and to the ELAN
interfaces.
Starts each service configured in the package.
Requests resource status through EMS.
During remote recovery, MC/ServiceGuard transfers the ATM
applications from one system to another over the LAN. All package IP
addresses defined on an ELAN interface on an ATM adapter on one
system transfer to another ELAN interface on another ATM adapter on
another system. This allows the ATM client applications to still use the
same IP addresses to access the ELAN.
