Unconﬁguring EMS HA-ATM

EMS HA-ATM manages local and remote recovery with the EMS

monitor hatmmon. If EMS HA-ATM is unconﬁgured for a primary ELAN

interface, the monitor for that interface stops immediately.

An MC/ServiceGuard package that has speciﬁed a package resource

dependency for an ELAN interface relies on hatmmon to provide status

for that resource. Stopping the hatmmon monitor causes the package to

fail on the node that contains that resource. This, in turn, causes

MC/ServiceGuard to start remote recovery for that node. To prevent this,

stop the High Availability cluster in MC/ServiceGuard before using SAM

to unconﬁgure EMS HA-ATM for an interface (see step 2 below).

To unconﬁgure High Availability over ATM for a primary ELAN

interface, follow these steps:

Step 1. Log in as root.

Step 2. Type sam to start SAM.

Step 3. Select “Networking and Communications”.

Step 4. Select “Network Interface Cards”.

Step 5. Highlight the primary ATM adapter that has the primary ELAN

interface you want to unconﬁgure EMS HA-ATM for, and then choose

Configure from the “Actions” menu.

This opens the “Conﬁgure ATM Card” window, which lists all conﬁgured

interfaces for the ATM adapter.

Step 6. Highlight the primary ELAN interface you want to unconﬁgure EMS

HA-ATM for, and select Unconfigure HA over ATM from the “Actions”

menu.

The High Availability conﬁguration for the selected ELAN interface is

removed, and the HA-related interface information is no longer

displayed. Also, the hatmmon monitoring daemon for that interface is

stopped.

If you need to unconﬁgure EMS HA-ATM for more than one ELAN

interface, repeat this step for each interface, and then go to step 7.

Step 7. Select the OK button when you are ﬁnished.
