Chapter 7164
Getting Network I/F IP Stats/Traffic (HP-UX 11.X)
To check traffic on a system, use the netstat -i command, as follows:
netstat -i
The output from the command is as follows, for HP-UX 11.X:
Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Opkts
lo0 4136 127.0.0.0 localhost 620 622
lan0 1500 15.128.168.0 coriolis 30614 15978
cip100 9180 25.128.1.0 25.128.1.9 5910 3086
el100 1500 25.128.10.0 25.128.10.79 2539 1060
cip101 9180 25.128.2.0 25.128.2.8 0 0
el200 1500 25.128.20.0 25.128.20.79 81 39
In the example, ATM adapter atm0 has its Classical IP interface
(cip100) and two ELAN interfaces (el100 and el200) configured, and
ATM adapter atm1 has only its Classical IP interface (cip101)
configured. For each interface, detailed traffic information on the
incoming packets (Ipkts) and outgoing packets (Opkts) is displayed.
Getting Installed Adapter Information (HP-UX 10.20)
Use the following command to check if the ATM adapter has been
installed and is up:
lanscan
The output from the command is as follows, for HP-UX 10.20:
Hardware Station Crd Hardware Net-Interface NM MAC HP DLPI Mjr
Path Address In# State NameUnit State ID Type Support Num
8/16/6 0x080009C30AE9 0 UP lan0 UP 4 ETHER Yes 52
8/0 0x080009C6FC01 1 UP atm1 DOWN 5 ATM No 163
8/8 0x080009C6FC02 0 UP atm0 UP 6 ATM No 163
8/12 0x080009C6FC03 2 UP atm2 UP 7 ATM No 163
In this example, the server has three ATM adapters installed: atm0 and
atm2 are UP and can be used, and atm1 is DOWN. The MAC address is
provided in the Station Address column (after the x).
