Troubleshooting LAN Emulation
Chapter 9 241
The current state of the ELAN. Normally, any primary LEC
configuration should be returned as “Current”, and the secondary
LEC configuration should be shown as “Backup”. If the secondary
LEC configuration is shown as “Current,” the primary services have
failed and the backup services have taken over.
LAN Emulation Version 2 (LANE V2) information, which is
associated with MPOA and LLC multiplexing, if one or both of them
are enabled.
B Check that the status field for the Primary LEC configuration is
“Operational” and the state is “Current”.
The primary service should always be current if it is operational. If the
state is “Not operational” and you have configured Secondary LAN
Emulation Services, check the Secondary LAN Emulation Services, as
described in “Troubleshooting Secondary LAN Emulation Services” on
page 245.
C Check that the LECS ATM address is present and correct; and check
that the LES ATM address is present.
If the LES ATM address is displayed, this means that the LEC has
contacted the LECS and received the LES ATM address from it.
If the LES ATM address is not displayed, this could mean one of the
following:
The LEC is unable to establish a connection to the displayed LECS
ATM address or there is a signalling problem between the LEC and
the LECS.
The LEC can establish a connection with the LECS but is unable to
retrieve the LES ATM address from it. This can mean either that the
LES ATM address is incorrect or the LECS configuration is
non-accessible. Check that the LES ATM address is configured
correctly on the LECS, and check the LECS configuration is OK.
The LES is not configured in the LECS. Check that the LECS is
configured correctly.
If the LECS ATM address is configured correctly, check the ATM switch
or edge device; and if the problem persists, make a trace (see “Tracing”
on page 292) and call HP.
