Chapter 9242
D Check that the correct ELAN name is present. Check that the LES ATM
address displayed for the ELAN name is correct.
NOTE The ELAN name is case sensitive, so check that the ELAN name that is
configured in the LECS exactly matches the ELAN name configured in
SAM.
If no value is returned for the LES ATM address, check that the LECS is
OK, and that the LES ATM address is correctly defined for the ELAN in
the LECS configuration file.
Also check that any Access Control rules configured in the LECS do not
prevent the LEC from joining the ELAN. See “Checking ELAN Access
Control Rules Definitions on LECS” on page 244 for details.
E Check that the Control Direct VCC is open to the LES.
This means that communication is established between the LEC and the
LES. If the LES ATM address for the ELAN is correct, but the Control
Direct VCC is returned as -.-, there is a problem with establishing
contact with the LES—the LEC knows its LES ATM address but is
unable to open a connection to it.
Check the following:
• That the LES ATM address is correct.
• That the LES is functioning correctly.
• The connection between the LEC and LES.
• Your switch or edge device.
If the problem persists, make a trace and call HP.
F Check that the BUS ATM address and Multicast Forward VCC are OK.
If not, then the problem is with the BUS. If the BUS ATM address or
Multicast Forward VCC is not OK, there is a problem between the LEC
and the BUS. Check the following:
• That the BUS is correctly defined in the LES.
• That the BUS is functioning correctly.
• The connection between the LEC and the BUS.
