Configuring an ELAN Interface
NOTE Before you configure LAN Emulation, you must first configure the ATM
adapter as described in “Configuring the ATM Card Parameters” on
page 20.
Preparing for Configuration
Have the following information ready before you begin configuring an
ELAN interface:
The name of the ELAN that you want the ELAN interface to join.
The IP address and subnet mask that you will assign to the ELAN IP
interface (the adapter needs a unique IP address for each ELAN of
which it is a member).
How the Primary LECS ATM address is made available: use ILMI,
use the well-known ATM address, or manuallysee step one under
“How an Emulated LAN Works” on page 42 for details.
The ATM address of the Primary LECS, if you are manually
configuring it.
Whether you intend to use a secondary LECS to offer secondary LAN
Emulation Services; if so, you need the secondary LECS’s ATM
address and the secondary ELAN name.
If you will be using MPOA, the information you will need to specify
