HP X.25/9000 J2793B Release Note for B.11.11.00
What’s in This Version
Chapter 16
What’s in This Version
This version includes:
Support for the LLC2 specification that allows X.25 layer 3 to connect to DLPI instead of
LAP-B. With this X.25 can now work with LAN cards (100BT, FDDI, TR).
Support for on-line addition/replacement of the J3525A and J3526A PCI I/O cards.
Replacement card for J3525-69001 on rx5670 systems.
Benefits
Support for LLC2
With the LLC2 support, there will be a significant improvement in the performance as
typically LAN cards support 100Mbps (megabits per sec) as against the 2 Mbps supported by
any X.25 interface.
Support for OLAR
The OLAR feature provides the ability to replace/add PCI I/O cards of similar kinds on a
HP-UX system without the need for completely shutting down and then re-booting the system
or affecting other system components. The system hardware uses the per-slot power control
combined with operating system support to enable this feature.
Replacement Card for J3525-69001 on rx5670
The original J3525A card, EDC Rev 01, 1-3752, or exchange part-number J3525-69001, does
not work correctly on rx5670 systems. During powerup, the power is cycled ON-OFF-ON. The
OFF cycle is 1.2 seconds, which in some cases is not long enough for J3525A to release all the
residual charges. As a result, the card is not recognized by the system and is not claimed by
the driver.
The hardware of the J3525A card (PCIRESET circuitry) has been modified to automatically
generate a double reset when PCIRESET is released. Only the cards with that modified
hardware need to be used on an rx5670 system. The replacement card for J3525-69001 (Rev1
or 1-3752) is J3525-69101 (B-4306).
