HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM v6.1
HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM v6.1 (bundles BB068AA and VirtualBase) is a new product that
brings together vPars and Integrity VM functionality in a single, common easy-to-use management
environment. This product is a follow-on to HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) v6.0 and Integrity VM
v4.3. The single SMH-launched GUI consolidates and simplifies management functions, and HP-UX
GUID Manager can ensure NPIV storage access remains secure.
The HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM v6.1 product is delivered in two bundles: BB068AA, an optional
(selectable) bundle in the VSE-OE and DC-OE; and VirtualBase, a recommended
(default-installed) bundle in all OEs.
Summary of Change
Licensing and upgrading to vPars and Integrity VM version 6.1: HP-UX 11i v3 VSE-OE and DC-OE
contain the individual product and license rights bundled together in with the HP-UX 11i v3 March
2012 update.
If you have licensed Integrity VM or vPars as standalone products or as components in the VSE-OE
and DC-OE, you are entitled to an upgrade. Contact your HP representative.
This release features support for HP-UX 11i v3 March 2012, Direct I/O for Networking, and N_Port
ID Virtualization (NPIV) for direct SAN access. This release also includes a roll-up of patches
released after the HP-UX 11i v3 September 2011 release.
IMPORTANT: Prior to running the HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM V6.1 product, be sure to review
the HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM V6.1 Release Notes for additional information, including patches
required for running the product.
Compatibility
You can continue to run or install vPars v5 on Superdome 2; however, you cannot run vPars v5 in
the same nPar as one configured to run the new HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM v6.x product.
If your system is configured with vPars v5, you cannot start the HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM v6.x
product. If you try to do so, you will see the following message, and the HP-UX vPars and Integrity
VM v6.x product will exit with an error status code.
NOTE: Integrity VM software cannot be started when vPars is running.

There are no known performance issues.
