Verification Procedures
This section contains the following verification procedures for HP-UX Mobile IPv4:.
• “Verify that the Daemon is Running” on page 92
• “Verify Mobile Node Registration on a Home Agent” on page 92
• “Verify Route Optimization” on page 93
• “Verify Reverse Tunneling” on page 94
• “Verify AAA Server Connection and Sessions” on page 94
Verify that the Daemon is Running
Use the following command to verify that the mipd or miprod daemon is running:
mipadmin -status
If the daemon is running, mipadmin will print a message with the process ID (PID) and
other information about the daemon similar to the following:
mipd[19132] running on system

If the daemon is not running, mipadmin will print the following message:
mipadmin: No Mobile IP daemon was found running; the ’status’ query does
not apply
If you see the above message, try to start the daemon using the following command at
the mipadmin prompt:
mipadmin> start
If the daemon will not start, use the trouble shooting procedures in “Daemon Will Not
Run” on page 96.
Verify Mobile Node Registration on a Home Agent
Use the following procedure to verify Mobile Node registration on the Home Agent.
1. Attach a Mobile Node to a foreign network.
2. On the Home Agent, use the mipadmin -bindings command to display the bindings
between Mobile Nodes and Care-of Addresses. Look for an entry with the Mobile
Node’s address in the Mobile Node’s Home Address field.
