Important notes and recommendations • Because of a change in the installation method for HP 4Gb Virtual Connect Fibre Channel firmware version 1.11, HP recommends using this version of the Virtual Connect Support Utility to install the firmware. If the HP 4Gb Virtual Connect Fibre Channel firmware version 1.11 firmware is installed with Virtual Connect Manager or with HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect Support Utility version 1.2.0 or earlier, the HP 4Gb VC-FC Module might present a degraded status.
New features The HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect Support Utility Version 1.4.0 contains the following enhancements: • Support for upgrading Multi-Enclosure Virtual Connect domains • Upgrading to a new Virtual Connect 8Gb Fibre Channel Module • Ability to use non-privileged FTP port numbers Administrator/Power User privileges are no longer needed after VC-FC modules are also upgraded to a supported Firmware version: v1.
General requirements • Microsoft® Windows® XP (Service Pack 1 or 2), Windows Server® 2003, or Windows Vista® operating systems must be installed on the client. • When upgrading from Virtual Connect 4Gb FC module version 1.31 or earlier, users must have Administrative or Power User privileges on the client system to install and run the utility. • A valid HP Virtual Connect firmware package must be available to install. Download the firmware from the HP website (http://www.hp.com).
