Appendix E: Connecting VC FlexFabric to Cisco Nexus 50xx
and 55xx series
Since VC 4.01, Virtual Connect provides the ability to pass FCoE (Dual Hop) to an external FCoE capable network
switch like the Nexus switches.
VC 3.70 and later allow you to connect VC FlexFabric modules to Nexus 50xx and 55xx series using Native Fibre
Channel.

Fibre Channel functions on Nexus
Support of native Fibre Channel functions on Nexus switches has the following options:
You can configure all Unified ports as 8/4/2/1G Native Fibre Channel. The SPS (Storage Protocol Services) license
is required to enable the use of Native FC operations. Unified ports are identified by their orange color:

The expansion module N55-M8P8FP for Nexus 55xx series provides eight ports as native Fibre Channel ports. The
N55-M8P8FP for Nexus 55xx series provides eight ports as native Fibre Channel ports. The SPS license is also
required to enable Native Fibre Channel operation. Fibre Channel ports are identified by their green color:
