Considerations and concepts
The following concepts apply when using the Virtual Connect Fibre Channel Module or the Virtual Connect FlexFabric
module:
 To manage an HP VC-FC Module, you must also install an HP Virtual Connect Ethernet Module. The VC Ethernet
module contains the processor on which the Virtual Connect Manager firmware runs.
 Virtual Connect now supports Direct Storage attachment to reduce storage networking costs and to remove the
complexity of FC switch management.
 NPIV support is required in the FC switches that connect to the HP VC-FC and HP FlexFabric Modules.
 Since VC 4.01, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) can be used as an alternative to native Fibre Channel (FC).
