Upstream Switch support

Supported upstream switch models you can connect to the VC modules are listed in the Virtual Connectivity stream

documents available on the following HP’s SPOCK web page:

(Requires HP Passport; if you do not have an HP Passport account, follow the instructions on the webpage).

In short, FCoE connection on Virtual Connect uplink ports is currently supported by HP with:

 Cisco Nexus 50xx (i.e. Nexus 5010 and 5020)

 Cisco Nexus 55xx (i.e. Nexus 5548UP and 5596UP)

 HP 5900 switch series (i.e. HP FlexFabric 5900CP, HP 5900AF)

Note: HP does not provide services and installation support for Brocade VDX upstream switches. However, we do

recognize Brocade VDX as a viable 3rd party upstream FCoE multi-hop option with Virtual Connect. Brocade has recently

released a deployment guide providing use cases for Brocade VDX/VCS Fabrics and HP Virtual Connect. See Brocade VDX

Cisco Nexus 5xxx support

The following describes the different scenarios currently supported by HP with Nexus 50xx and Nexus 55xx:

VC<------>Nexus 5K FCF<------>FC or FCoE target

VC<------>Nexus 5K FCF/NPV<------>MDS FCoE<------>FC or FCoE target

VC<------>Nexus 5K FCF/NPV<------>MDS FC<------>FC target

VC<------>Nexus 5K NPV<------>Brocade FC<------>FC target

Variants of the above with more Cisco FC or FCoE hops are supported up to the Cisco hop limit.
