FCoE Cookbook for HP Virtual Connect Version 4.20 Firmware Enhancements May 2014

Considerations
In this scenario, the HP 5900 switches must operate as Fiber Channel Forwarders (FCF). In this mode, the switch provides
standard Fibre Channel switching capability and features including expansion, fabric, trunk VF and N ports, and
aggregation of E-port and N-port virtualization; fabric services such as name server, registered state change
notification, and login services; per-VSAN fabric services, FSPF, soft and hard zoning, Fibre Channel traceroute, ping,
debugging, and FIP snooping.
It is not possible to directly connect a FC-based target on HP 5900AF switches because they do not provide support for
Fibre Channel interfaces.
Note: With HP FlexFabric 5900CP, it is also possible to connect a FC-based storage array.
