Introduction This document will cover how to configure Cisco Nexus 5000 series switches, and Cisco Nexus 2000 series Fabric Extender specifically Cisco Nexus 2232PP Fabric Extender based on two logical architecture lab designs shown in a later section. The purpose of this document is to highlight Cisco Ether Channel and Cisco Virtual Port Channel (vPC) features to easily interoperate with HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 Interconnect Module and HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric Interconnect Module.
Interface that might pa articipate in a logical bund le called EtheerChannel Hosst Interface tha at can group up to 8 Host H Interfacess. annel Host Inte erface was ad dded to the Fa abric Extender from Cisco N NX-OS Releasse EtherCha 4.2(1)N1 1(1). Bridge Protocol P Data Unit (BPDU) G Guard is enab bled by default in all Host Interfaces and d you cann not disable it.
keepalive k link sends configurable, period dic keepalive messages be etween vPC pe eer devices. No N data or sy ynchronization n traffic movess over the vPC C peer-keepallive link; the o only traffic on this link is a message m that indicates that the originating switch is op perating and running vPCs.. You Y must have e Layer 3 connectivity betw ween the peer switches to trransmit these messages; the e system s cannott bring up the vPC peer linkk unless a peeerkeepalive lin nk is already up and running.
