HP StorageWorks Automated Storage Manager 4.3 Release Notes (5697-0826, May 2011)

When a restore job restores a folder that was previously shared via CIFS, the folder may no longer
be shared and therefore will not be discovered in ASM.
Workaround: Manually assign the appropriate permissions to the folder in order to share it, which
allows the folder to be discovered in the ASM client UI.
On X1000 G2 systems shipped with WSS 2008 R2 or systems downgraded to WSS2008 or
WSS 2003R2 using the downgrade DVD with Data Protector Express Version 5 installed, ASM
shows the alert Data Protector Express scripts have failed, details can be
found in logs. When you configure backup, an Object reference error Exception is
also reported.
This situation occurs because Domain Security is not enabled in Data Protector Express 5.0 and
the user added as a part of ASM discovery does not have sufficient permission.
Workaround: Complete the following steps:
1. Go to Services.msc and stop Data Protector Express service.
2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\Data Protector Express and delete the
database folder.
3. Start the Data Protector Express Service.
4. Open the DPX UI, and select File > Domain Configuration > Domain Security. Check the
Enable Domain Security check box.
5. Use one of the following methods to create the ASMBackup user:
Select Run and open a command prompt, switch to the C:\Program Files\HP\
DPXSCRIPTING directory, and run the following command:
PERL\BIN\perl.exe BIN\User.pl create new_un ASMbackup new_pw “”
The command creates the New ASMbackup user, which ASM will use in further
operations.
Update to ASM 4.3 and run a discovery from the ASM UI. This step also creates the
user.
