WARNING! The Quick Restore process will allow either Server Recovery or Factory Reset. Server
Recovery attempts to recover all data and restore the folders. However, during Server Recovery, all
system settings, such as user accounts and settings are lost and you must recreate them. During Factory
Reset, in addition to losing all system settings, the data on all drives is lost.
1. Browse to the HP StorageWorks DataVault Backup System page on the HP Software Depot:

2. Select the QR ISO image appropriate to your product and software version and follow the
instructions to download it. You will be required to sign in with HP Passport, which can be created
when you first access the site.
3. Recovery Media Creation software creates a system recovery disc using a blank, writable DVD
(DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, or DVD+R DL). HP recommends using a blank DVD+R disc. Use a
name-brand label from a manufacturer you trust, as this recovery DVD is very important.
NOTE: Make sure the disc can record at least 4.7GB of data.
4. To burn the image using Windows Vista or Windows XP, you can use the free utility ISO Recorder
to burn the DVD. Right-click and select Copy image to CD. This opens up ISO Recorder so that
you can verify the image path and adjust the recording speed to burn the image.
5. Also, by going into Properties you can fine tune the recording speed and have the disc eject when
it is done. When you have all the settings how you like, click Next and the burning process starts.
A progress screen pops up indicating that the data is being written and when it is being finalized.
6. Once you have the restore DVD created make sure to keep it in a safe place in case you need it
to restore one of the machines on your network.
IMPORTANT: HP recommends that you label the new media for ease of identification.
Using the Quick Restore Image
HP recommends that you use the Quick Restore under guidance from HP Support. It is not required
for normal operation of the product.
