6.0 HP X9320 Network Storage System Administrator Guide (AW542-96009, December 2011)

Changing the Statistics tool configuration
The configuration can be changed only on the management node. To change the configuration,
add a configuration parameter and its value to the /etc/ibrix/stats.conf file on the currently
active node. The supported configuration changes are:
Interval for data collection. The default value is 15 seconds. To change the interval to 30
seconds, add the following line to the stats.conf file:
collector.time=30
Aging configuration for staging statistics data. The age.retain.files parameter specifies
the number of hours, starting from the current time, to retain collected data. For example, the
following line in stats.conf retains data for 24 hours.
age.retain.files=24h
NOTE: The default value is 720h if not configured explicitly. The value assigned to this
parameter must be greater than 2 hours. HP recommends that you set the value to 24h to
reduce space utilization.
For example, each date folder in /var/lib/ibrix/histstats/<nodename> occupies
a maximum of 15 MB per day. When the default value of 720h is used, there are 30 date
folders in the <nodename> folder, requiring 450 MB per node. Adding the space required
for other statistics report files, approximately 2 GB is needed for a two-node cluster.
When age.retain.files is set to 24h, there will be only one date folder for each node.
Adding the space required for other statistics report files, approximately 700 MB is needed
for a two-node cluster.
Aging configuration for data in the statistics database: The following parameters specify the
number of hours, starting from the current time, to retain aggregated data in the statistics
database for the cluster and individual nodes. The default values are:
age.retain.60s=72h
age.retain.15m=360h
age.retain.60m=1440h
For example, if age.retain.60s=72h, data aggregated in the last 72 hours is retained,
and older data is removed. To change this parameter, add a line such as the following to the
stats.conf file:
age.retain.60s=150h
The examples shown here are suggestions only. HP recommends that you test your particular
configuration before configuring it on your nodes.
CAUTION: If invalid inputs are specified for these parameters, the values are set to zero, which
can cause the loss of all statistical data.
NOTE: You do not need to restart processes after changing the configuration. The updated
configuration is collected automatically.
Customizing the configuration
The configuration procedure creates the file /etc/ibrix/statstool.conf on each node.
When the stmanage loadfm command is run, it creates the /etc/ibrix/
statstool.local.conf file. These files should not be modified directly.
