Other supported software Software Supported versions Linux 9000 clients • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5 (all 64 bit) nl • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Updates 5, 6, 7, 8 (all 64 bit) • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (64 bit) • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3 (64 bit) • openSUSE 11.1 (64 bit) • CentOS 4.5, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.
.6.4 release Enhancements The intent of the 5.6.4 release was to resolve key issues found in earlier releases. Fixes • The ibrix_fsck command was showing illegal inode number while reading inode. • The HP-CIFS Srvsvc service no longer fails due to an excessive number of RPC connection requests.
• The CIFS/SMB service failed when a large number of CIFS/SMB clients were connected concurrently for read/writes. • The NIC monitor failed with a segmentation fault. • Servers becoming unresponsive during connection/delegation recovery. The problem occurred during connection/delegation recovery on servers especially within a large StoreAll cluster. • An lwiod failure caused the CIFS/SMB service to stop. This issue has been resolved.
5.6.2 release Enhancements The intent of the 5.6.2 release was to resolve key issues found in earlier releases. Implementation changes in 5.6.2 The 5.6.2 release provided the following implementation changes: • The default port for the StoreAll SNMP agent has been changed from 161 to 5061. • The df command (and similar tools) report size and usage for a directory based on the quota limits set on that directory.
5.6.1 release Enhancements The 5.6.1 release provides the following enhancements: • Support for DL380 G7 servers on 9300 and 9320 systems. • Support for BL460c G7 servers on X9720 systems. • Support for HP P2000 G3 MSA Array System on 9300 and 9320 systems. • Support for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 (64 bit) operating system. • Support for HP Insight Remote Support. Fixes File systems • The ibrix_fsck command needed an option to focus consistency checking on specific segments.
• When Cygwin was used to create a hard link on a CIFS/SMB share, the CIFS/SMB implementation did not report that hard links are not supported. • If a CIFS/SMB client had a file open on a StoreAll CIFS/SMB share and the client then lost network access without closing the file gracefully, the file could not be opened by other CIFS/SMB clients until a timeout period expired. This condition has been resolved by changing the TCP timeouts used by the CIFS/SMB implementation.
• A race condition caused the system to fail with the error [exception RIP: j_verifyThread+448] - corrupted pJournal->q_verify queue. • A lock condition caused corruption in the management console database. • The system failed with the error lwiod segfault in IbfsFreeSetAllocationContext. Configuring HP Insight Remote Support Prerequisites The required components for supporting StoreAll systems are preinstalled on the file serving nodes.
4. 5. Configure Entitlements. Test the configuration. The following sections describe each step in detail. Configure SNMP on the file serving nodes Run the /sbin/hpsnmpconfig script, which configures SNMP to integrate the CMS/IRSS running on the Windows server with the HP System Management Homepage on the file serving node. The script edits the /etc/snmp/snmpd.
To ensure that hp-snmp-agents restarts when the system is rebooted, enter the following command: # chkconfig hp-snmp-agents on Discover nodes on HP SIM or IRSS For StoreAll systems, HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) uses the SNMP protocol to discover and identify systems automatically. If desired, you can configure HP SIM to discover system-specific network segments, a targeted host, or IP address ranges. For IRSS, see the HP Insight Remote Support Standard A.05.
• ◦ Select the System Country Code ◦ Enter the appropriate Customer Contact and Site Information details Custom field settings for MSA Storage Management Utility Configure SNMP settings on the MSA Storage Management Utility. section. (For more information, see “Configuring SNMP event notification in SMU” in the HP 2300 Modular Smart Array Reference Guide This document is available at http://www.hp.com/support/manuals.
Remote Replication • When remote replication is running, if the target file system is unexported, the replication of data will stop. To ensure that replication takes place, do not unexport a file system that is the target for a replication (for example, with ibrix_exportcfr -U). • Remote replication will fail if the target file system is unmounted. To ensure that replication takes place, do not unmount the target file system.
1. Install the likewise-cifs.x86_64.rpm. (This RPM is provided in the IBRIX OS Software distribution in the directory /usr/local/ibrix/installation/ibrix/distrib/ engine/RHEL5/x86-64.) rpm –i likewise-cifs.x86_64-X9000_v5.5.rpm 2. Join the management console to the AD domain manually: /opt/likewise/bin/domainjoin-cli join 3. Stop Likewise: /opt/likewise/bin/lwsm stop lwreg && /etc/init.d/lwsmd stop 4. Start Likewise: /etc/init.
• When the Microsoft Windows Share Management interface is used to add a CIFS/SMB share, the share path must include the StoreAll file system name. The Browse button on the MMC cannot be used to locate the file system. Instead, enter the entire path, such as C:\data\. • The StoreAll management console GUI and CLI allow only StoreAll file systems and directories to be exported as CIFS/SMB shares.

Cluster component states • Changes in file serving node status do not appear on the management console until 6 minutes after an event. During this time, the node status may appear to be UP when it is actually DOWN or UNKNOWN. Be sure to allow enough time for the management console to be updated before verifying node status. • Generally, when a vendorstorage component is marked Stale, the component has failed and is not responding to monitoring.
Add a pound sign in front of the command and save the file. Then restart the SNMP service: service snmpd restart • When installing IRSA A.05.50 or IRSS A.05.50 on Windows Server 2008, install it to a non-default location (not under Program Files). • Onboard Administrator is discovered as unknown on IRSS. After Onboard Administrator discovery, manually enter the following details: ◦ Select System Subtype as ProLiant Onboard Administrator.
• When you perform a Quick Restore of a file serving node, the NFS, CIFS/SMB, FTP, and HTTP export information is not automatically restored to the node. After operations are failed back to the node, the I/O from client systems to the node fails for the NFS, CIFS/SMB, FTP, and HTTP shares. To avoid this situation, manually restore the NFS, CIFS/SMB, FTP, and HTTP exports on the node before failing it back.
The following example is for a RHEL 4.8 client with kernel version 2.6.9-89.ELsmp: # /usr/local/ibrix/bin/verify_client_update 2.6.9-89.35.1.ELsmp nl Kernel update 2.6.9-89.35.1.ELsmp is compatible. If the minor kernel update is compatible, install the update with the vendor RPM and reboot the system. The StoreAll client software is then automatically updated with the new kernel, and StoreAll client services start automatically.
• The file system must be quiescent (no active I/O while a segment is being evacuated). Running this utility while the file system is active may result in data inconsistency or loss. • If quotas are enabled on the affected file system, the quotas must be disabled during the rebalance operation. To evacuate a segment, complete the following steps: 1. Identify the segment residing on the physical volume to be removed. Select Storage from the Navigator on the management console GUI.
Upgrades The upgrade procedure is provided in the administration guide for your storage system. Contact HP Support for assistance with the procedure. IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading to the 5.6.x release from an IBRIX OS Software version earlier than 5.5, first upgrade to the latest 5.5 release, and then upgrade to 5.6.x. Compatibility/Interoperability Note the following: • Every member of the cluster must be running the same version of IBRIX OS Software.
