6.5 HP StoreAll OS User Guide

Prerequisites and planning considerations for custom metadata replication
Custom metadata replication is only supported on StoreAll version 6.5 or later, and the source
and target cluster should be at the same StoreAll version.
Be aware that it takes a minimum of 30 minutes for the replicated custom metadata to be
available in the Express Query database on the target file system. If custom metadata is added
during a CRR task, it will be replicated to the target file system and be available a minimum
of 30 minutes from the time it was added to the Express Query database on the source file
system.
The target file system should remain passive without any I/O activities during the replication
of custom metadata.
Enable SSH on the active FM node in the source cluster and the target cluster.
Ensure that Express Query is enabled on both the source and target file systems. This is required
to ensure that custom metadata is replicated.
You can only use the shell script (crr_cmd_replication.sh) to enable and disable custom
metadata replication tasks. Do not stop custom metadata replication tasks using the FM GUI
or using the ibrix_crr CLI command. You can view, pause, and resume custom metadata
replication task from the GUI.
Custom metadata replication support
Custom metadata replication is supported:
Only with continuous remote replication.
For both intercluster and intracluster tasks.
At the root of the file system only.
NOTE: The replication of the actual files and directories is independent of the replication of
custom metadata. Files and directories will be replicated to the target file system before the
replication of their corresponding custom metadata.
Custom metadata replication does not support:
Run-once replication.
The exclusion of specific files or directories within the source file system.
Cascading replication.
Replication at directory or sub-directory levels within the file system.
crr_cmd_replication.sh
The crr_cmd_replication.sh command is a shell script that needs to be run from the active
Fusion Manager of the source cluster. It can be run like any other StoreAll CLI command.
This command completes the prerequisite tasks for a CRR job, which are:
Register the source cluster with the target cluster and vice-versa. If they are already registered,
this step is skipped.
If the CRR target export is already created on the target cluster, a message is displayed
indicating the target export is already created and the job is terminated.
CRR with custom metadata replication creates the CRR target exports on its own and it should
not be pre-configured.
