HP StoreAll OS 6.5.1 Upgrade Guide

A Manual offline upgrades for StoreAll software 6.1.5 to
6.5.1
IMPORTANT: Do not follow these steps unless instructed to do so by HP Support.
Preparing for the upgrade
To prepare for the upgrade, complete the following steps:
1. Make sure you have completed all steps in the upgrade checklist (Table 1 (page 6)).
2. Ensure that all nodes are up and running. To determine the status of your cluster nodes, check
the dashboard on the StoreAll Management Console (NavigatorDashboard) or use the
ibrix_health command.
9300 and 9320 systems
ibrix_health -i -h <hostname> command for each node in the cluster. At the
top of the output look for “PASSED.
9730 and X9720 systems
ibrix_health -S -i -h <hostname> command for each node in the cluster. At
the top of the output look for “PASSED.
3. If you have not already mounted the QR ISO on the server running Active Fusion Manager,
do so now:
a. Copy the ISO to the local hard drive, as shown in the following example:
cp X9000-QRDVD-6.x.xxx.x86_64.iso.signed.iso /local
b. Create the /media directory.
c. Mount the ISO image, as shown in the following example:
mount -r -o loop /local/X9000-QRDVD-6.x.xxx.x86_64.iso.signed.iso
/media
4. Run the following script on the server running Active Fusion Manager:
/media/ibrix/prepFM.sh
The script prepares the server for the upgrade by performing a number of tasks, such as the
following:
Disables Fusion Manager failover.
Disables server failover.
Stops the CIFS and NFS daemons.
Verifies that Likewise services are not running.
Shuts down the Metabox database.
Unmounts the file system.
Forces a backup of the Fusion Manager database.
If the script is unable to unmount the file system, do the following steps:
a. If necessary, run the following command on all nodes to find any open file handles for
the mounted file systems:
lsof </mountpoint>
b. Use kill -9 to stop any processes that still have open file handles on the file systems.
IMPORTANT: There is a possibility of losing data from killing a process.
c. Rerun the prepFM.sh script.
