6.3 HP StoreAll Storage Installation Guide (TA768-96085, April 2013)

16. The WORM/Retention window lets you enable data retention. Data retention archives read-only
files, ensuring that the files cannot be modified or deleted for a specific period. Data validation
scans are optional. Verify that retained files remain unchanged.
Select one or more of the following options:
Enable Data Retention. When a file system is enabled for data retention, you can specify
a retention profile that includes minimum, maximum, and default retention periods that
specify how long a file must be retained.
NOTE: Enabling data retention is irreversible.
Enable Data Validation to schedule periodic scans on the file system.
Enable Report Data Generation to create data retention reports.
Enable Express Query to enable Express Query on this file system. This option requires
that data retention be enabled. Express Query cannot be turned off while Auditing is
enabled. Express Query provides a per file system database of system and custom
metadata, and audit histories of system and file activity. When Express Query is enabled
on the file system, you can manage the metadata service, configure auditing, create
reports from the audit history, assign custom metadata and certain system metadata to
files and directories, and query for selected metadata from files.
