The column headings in the middle of the report correspond to parameters in the service.ini file as
follows:
head_node_requiredHN Req
head_node_desiredHN Rec
external_connection_requiredExt Req
external_connection_desiredExt Rec
exclusivity_desiredExc Rec
An N in these columns indicates a note; a W indicates a warning. When notes and warnings are present,
more detailed descriptions are displayed immediately after the table.
All services requesting exclusive servers (exclusivity_desired=1) and specifying the same exclusivity
group (exclusivity_group=group1, for instance) are grouped together on the same exclusive group
of server nodes during the default initial configuration and configuration analysis if the HP XC system is
of sufficient size. These hints are ignored on small HP XC systems.
4.6.10 Adding a New Service
The first step in adding a service is to decide whether you need to add the service to an existing role or if
you need to create a new role and add the new service to it. This section describes both procedures.

4.6.10.1 Adding a Service to an Existing Role
Add a service to an existing role only when you have exclusive use of the HP XC system when no jobs are
running because the procedure requires that you reimage nodes.
Before you begin, write the required configuration scripts (gconfig, sconfig, nconfig, or cconfig)
for your service.
Follow this procedure to add a service to an existing role. This procedure adds a service called newservice
to the common role.
1. Log in as the superuser on the head node.
2. Make a copy of the roles_services.ini file for safekeeping:
# cd /opt/hptc/config
# cp role_services.ini role_services.ini.ORIG
3. Determine the role that best suits the new service.
