D.5 Nagios Plug-Ins for MCS
Each MCS device is represented as a Nagios host in the Nagios display. There are three Nagios
services associated with each MCS device:
• MCS Status
The check_mcs plug-in examines MCS MIB variables for warning and critical status
messages.
• MCS Traps
This plug-in displays and handles SNMP traps received from MCS devices.
• MCS Trends
The check_mcs_trends plug-in examines advanced settings and temperature and water
flow trends.
Figure D-1 (page 314) shows two MCS devices, mcs1 and mcs2, displayed in the Nagios Service
Details window.
The following MCS services are also associated with the head node:
• MCS Cluster Monitor
The check_mcs_cluster plug-in scans for problems across MCS devices
• MCS Traps Monitor
The check_syslogalerts plug-in examines the snmptraps.log file for MCS SNMP
trap events.
