Performing backups using VSS concurrently at both the local and remote sites (backup data is
created on secondary volumes). In this example, the backup data on the secondary volumes is
then backed up to a tape device at both the local and remote sites.
Restoring data using the backup data on the tape device at the local site.
Restoring data using the backup data on the tape device at the remote site.
The examples in this section assume the system configuration shown in the following figure.

The examples in this section assume the following conditions:
The Protection Manager service is running on the backup server at the local site and the database
server and backup server at the remote site.
Backup of another primary volume cannot be performed until the secondary volumes are backed
up to the tape devices.
Initially, Exchange virtual server is running on database server A at the local site.
NetBackup is installed as the tape backup management software on the backup servers, and the
configuration definitions for the tape library devices have been defined.
The dictionary map files at both the local and remote sites are updated with the latest information.
The secondary volume of the local copy at both the local and remote sites is concealed.
The primary volumes are formatted as NTFS volumes.
Disks P1 and P3 are mounted as D: drives.
