For storage system alerts, you can specify that the contents of received alerts are automatically sent
to users by email.
Error detection by Device Manager
Device Manager detects errors in management-target storage systems as follows:
Polling (default)
Device Manager regularly monitors the operating status of the storage systems, and displays an
alert when an error is detected. An alert includes the location where an error occurred and overview
of the error.
The polling interval can be set by using the server.dispatcher.daemon.pollingPeriod
property of the Device Manager server.
SNMP traps (optional)
When SNMP traps are received from storage systems, they are displayed as alerts. SNMP traps
are useful for determining the cause of an error, because they include information about the location
of the error in addition to the site of the error.
To receive SNMP traps in Device Manager, you must specify environment settings.
The alerts that Device Manager can display differ by storage system. The table below lists the alerts
that are supported by each storage system.

To display SNMP traps as alerts, the following settings are required:
Settings for Device Manager to receive SNMP traps
Device Manager must be able to use port 162/udp of the management server.
Specify true for the server.dispatcher.daemon.receiveTrap property.
