Using XRC for Mainframe in Conjunction with ShadowImage z/OS
XRC for Mainframe can be used in conjunction with ShadowImage z/OS to maintain data in the
secondary site and the primary site for disaster recovery and data migration purposes.
Configuration in which a volume is functioning as XRC for Mainframe P-VOL and ShadowImage
z/OS S-VOL
The following figure shows the configuration in which a volume is functioning as both an XRC for
Mainframe P-VOL and a ShadowImage z/OS S-VOL. In this configuration, data is copied within
the primary site using ShadowImage z/OS, and it is copied from the primary site to the secondary
site using XRC for Mainframe.

The following figure shows the configuration in which a volume is functioning as both an XRC for
Mainframe S-VOL (secondary volume) and a ShadowImage z/OS S-VOL (source volume). In this
configuration, data is copied from the primary site to the secondary site using XRC for Mainframe,
and then it is copied within the secondary site using ShadowImage z/OS.
